solid, liquid, and gas
what are the characteristics of solids
particles are close together in a regular arrangement, they don’t move but they vibrate against each other, strong forces hold them together, very small spaces in between.
what are characteristics of liquids
particles are loosely arranged but are still close together, particles move fast and slide past each other, have weaker forces holding them together, take up the shape of any container, have small spaces between them.
what are the characteristics of gases
no space arrangement, particles far from each other, forces are extremely weak particles can move very fast and freely and can collide with each other, have big spaces between them, fills whole container.
