A

-Charleston was far, Columbia is a more central location for legislators to travel to
-Columbia had more rivers and waterways for trade
-Columbia would be a fresh start, this would be the first city created with intent to be a state capitol

A

Emile Geiger was a Patriot VOLUNTEER messenger during the American Revolutionary War. Captured by Loyalists whilst on a mission to deliver a message on behalf of General Greene. Geiger ate the written message. Upon release, she verbally delivered the letter to its recipient.

During the renovations, while being lifted by crane, the statue fell and the base slid down the front steps.

A

the original sword was a flamborge, but plain sword. Our current sword is straight-edge and has our state seal and flower on it.

We bought it for 90 guineas, it is now upraised as priceless.

A

Educator, Activist, Administrator, and south carolinian. National Youth Administration, she was the first African American woman to serve as head of a federal agency. She also founded Bethune-Cookman College.
