socialism: see state as oppressors through capitalism so believe revolution is required
radical: state is dominated by patriarchy so can’t overthrow it or be part of solution & discrimination + inequality is systematic

  • before capitalism had free & prominent place in society
  • industrial rev led to w being reduced 2 wage slaves
  • w = reserve army of labour employed at low wages when male labour is scarce
  • often discarded when m.l is available & wages no longer need 2 be kept low

  • BUT some think w are superior eg: caring & less agressive (which others find 2 be a defeatist p.o.v)
  • so world would be better if ruled by w (eg. less war)
  • simone de beauvoir: diff automatically lead 2 inequality & m will benefit so male superiority need 2 be destroyed
