Q

Redundancy

A

2 fireswalls and switches, etc, so if one goes down, the other can take over

17
Q

Backing up

A

Back up into hard drives every night and store them offfisite incase of fire
-Data backed up to cloud. Amazon web service provides cheap service.

18
Q

Disaster help

A

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)

  • Big battery-> if there is a power outage can keep operating because of the battery so that the network doesn’t go down when power is lost. Lasts for 4 hrs.
  • Go to cloud as backup system and have people work remotely and connect to Amazon to work
19
Q

Small business getting internet acess

A

Small business low money. Small number of computers.. Use comcast business account. Multiple ISPs for redundancies. Comcast business line is $120 month. Cheap.

20
Q

Low cost networks

A

Comcast (20 people ish) (has high bandwidth offerings) and ATand T

21
Q

Cost of SAAS

A

Office 360 20/month/person-> email, word, powerpooint, etc

-Google suite is comparable

22
Q

Equipment costs

A

For a small businesss, find an area already wired for internet. Switches-> 40 ppl per switch, $5,000ish per switch

23
Q

Hubs

A
  • Not very good

- Limited scalability, hubs don’t do separatization to protect and there is less ability to manage the network

24
Q

Cost efficency

A

Leverage SAAS over buying the equipment

-Not using SAAS v expensive-> buy equipment, install equipment, update, etc

25
Q

Costomer management service

A

Salesforce.com is the largest. Cheap and fast

26
Q

Security and patching of servers

A

SAAS cheaper and they patch it themselves

-Don’t store credit card or social security numbers on your servers

27
Q

Is Amazon and google secure

A
  • Not really
  • Use google suite bc they encrypt your storage, if there was a data breach, google is responsible and they have to pay damage
28
Q

Best security measures

A
  • VPN is the safest way to have someone connect to your system, everything on the internet is viewable unless it is encrypted. Maybe $20/month
  • Duckduckgo says they encrypt
  • VPNs hide where you are
  • Startups are very poor, no office-> use personal VPN to protect traffic
