ISP gives pt to pt connection through a wire from each pt so there is no interception, even more secure. It controls and gives better control over quality

-Firewall-> protects traffic going in and out of the network

Identifies when someone is trying to hack into your network and blocks people who shouldn’t be on the netork
What should you do for small businesses
LAN, wifi, internet access. All you need. Portable
-Protect through firewall and antivirus software anti-malware connection

2 fireswalls and switches, etc, so if one goes down, the other can take over
Backing up
Back up into hard drives every night and store them offfisite incase of fire
-Data backed up to cloud. Amazon web service provides cheap service.

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
- Big battery-> if there is a power outage can keep operating because of the battery so that the network doesn’t go down when power is lost. Lasts for 4 hrs.
- Go to cloud as backup system and have people work remotely and connect to Amazon to work
Small business getting internet acess
Small business low money. Small number of computers.. Use comcast business account. Multiple ISPs for redundancies. Comcast business line is $120 month. Cheap.

Comcast (20 people ish) (has high bandwidth offerings) and ATand T

Office 360 20/month/person-> email, word, powerpooint, etc
-Google suite is comparable
Equipment costs
For a small businesss, find an area already wired for internet. Switches-> 40 ppl per switch, $5,000ish per switch
Hubs
- Not very good
- Limited scalability, hubs don’t do separatization to protect and there is less ability to manage the network
Cost efficency
Leverage SAAS over buying the equipment
-Not using SAAS v expensive-> buy equipment, install equipment, update, etc
