Funder most importantly, advocates her own interpretation of events in writing the text. She sets fairly rigid understandings of the people and events; often black and white thinking. Elements of ambiguity appear in the discussion she has with the men in the past, this is where she explores the notion of Ostalgie again but notes the homeless man herself.
