Question 1

1 Start the auxiliary oil pump and check oil pressure
2 Check oil level in oil reservoir.
3 Check the cylinder drain valves. They should be in open position
4 Open the gland leak off valves
5 Drain the condensate from and admit steam to the main steam header up to the throttle valve.

6 Establish circulating water flow through the condenser.
7 Establish seals on the high - and low-pressure ends for starting
8 Admit enough steam to start the rotor and then shut it off.
9 Listen for rubbing sounds.
10 If no rubbing is herd, admit steam to maintain 200 RPM for 1/2 hour to warm the casting and rotor evenly.

11 Turn the cooling water on the oil cooler to mainteen 100* F outlet oil temperature.
12 Close the cylinder drains.
13 Adjust high-and low-pressure seals for normal condition.
14 Start the condensate pump.
14 Seal the atmospheric valve.
15 Start the ejectors.

Question 4

16 Bring the steam turbine swowly up to rated speed until the governor takes over.
17 Trip the steam turbine emergency control to check operation.
18 Close the throttle valve and reset turbine bring up to rated speed . Make sure the govenor takes over.
19 Check the oil temoerature and temperature of the cooling medium.
20 Place the unit on line as quickly as posible with at least 20% load
