the constitutional crisis

-to pass all their welfare acts herbert asquith and david lloyd geroge have to pass people budget act
-house of lords refused
-they also refused the parliament act
-the king said they have to do an election (jan 1910) liberals won due to irish nationalists
-another election in dec 1910 for parliament act (lords cant veto money bills and cant veto bill for 2+ yrs)
-king said house of lords can either pass the parliement act or have half and half liberal and conservative lords

*1911 natioanl insurence/ sickness act (paid into weekly, 10 shillings a week for 13 weeks, then 5 shillings, included free treatemtn for tb and maternity grant and disiblity benfit)

A

-miners striking in 1910 as on sept 1st ely pit in penygraig shut out 950 miners after disagreeing of extraction coal rate
-riot in tonypandy square, cardiff on 8th nov cuased police to want military
-misscommuniaction meant the miliraty was called on the pontypridd riot in rhondda valley the next day
-minners forced to accept the 2s and 3ds a day offered as a wage, tripple alliance

-robery in a jewlwerry shop where the robbers fierd on police
-police at the house and heard shooting
-churchill deployed troops
