Q

why ws the appeasement policy a mistake?

A
  1. encouraged aggression - hitler interpreted AP as weakness , emboldened him to further territorial expansion
→ policy failed to deter him , reinforcing his belief tht allies wldnt oppose his actions forcefully + snowball effect of alws gving him wht he desired
  2. betrayal of allies - led to abandonment of countries , Czechslovakia , sacrificed to satisfy hitler
→ loss of credibility weakened allied positions , harder to build a unified front against germany when war broke out
