What was the Truman doctrine?
Financial and military aid to Greece and Turkey. They were weak and vulnerable to communism.
What was the yalta conference
Western:
- Poland to have free elections
- Germany to recover economically
- prosperous Europe to boost own economy and be less susceptible to communism
USSR:
- Soviet control of Poland, as historically previous invasions had come through Poland
- Germany to remain weak and poor
- wanted it’s own sphere of influence to safeguard its economy and security
