Test for starch 1 and why?
Put leaf in boiling water
*To break open cell wall and membrane, softening leaf. To get inside or something out of leaf.
Test for starch 2 and why?
Put leaf in ethanol (flammable(don’t put above flame in boiling water))
*so it removes chlorophyll
Test for starch 3
Leaf turns crispy and white. Therefore turn off Bunsen burner and put leaf in hot water to soften it.
Test for starch 4
Test for starch with iodine.
- if it turns black/blue starch is present.
- if it turns orange/brown no starch is present.
