Q

What is the proscenium actually?

A

It is actually the dividing line between the actors and the audience. Frequently an arch is built on this line to accomodate a large curtain that is traditionally closed for scene changes.

Q

What is the disadvantage of the proscenium arch style theatre?

A

It is harder to include the audience. The actors also find it harder to make the play totally naturalistic because they have to be aware of opening out to the audience.

A

It is easy to make realistic sets with the fourth wall removed so that the audience has the illusion of reality.
