Standing Waves Flashcards
1
Q
How does a standing wave occur?
A
Two waves of equal amplitude and frequency moving into and interfering with each other.
2
Q
Total destructive interference:
A
The two waves constantly cancel each other out, complete destructive interference occurs and the rope still remains still. These points are called a nodes.
3
Q
Power
A
The rate at which energy is being emitted from a source.
4
Q
Total constructive interference:
A
The oscillates at maximum amplitude. These points are called antinodes.
