All aircraft must have landed by 1700h. Normal Scheduling: Mon/Thu = 1630h Fri = 1500h

When can a student unstrap after a flight?
After the aircraft is parked and shutdown in accordance with the checklist.

Can students engage in civilian flying operations?
Yes, but only after permission from the CO (through XO) is sought.

When can students conduct solo starts?
Post GF11 (First Solo), provided their PT-51’s have been correctly annotated. However the student must have the maintenance release on the dash for the instructor to review before takeoff.

What is a solo student to do upon encountering an emergency or un-serviceability?
Carry out appropriate initial actions. When the aircraft is safely under control and time permits, inform the Duty Instructor. The DI will then inform the Duty Executive Officer. Solo Students are not to continue with the planned sortie following an aircraft emergency or un-serviceability.

Can solo students simulate emergencies?
No, however students may simulate PFL’s in accordance with SATG.

What conditions must be satisfied before a student can conduct their first solo?
- Be able to fly a safe normal circuit, overshoot from base and final approach, and carry out full stop landings.
- Complete Pre-Solo quiz
- Have a thorough knowledge of the following emergency procedures: Start emergencies, EFATO, Flapless landings, and Radio Failure.

Can solo students practice EFATO’s?
No.

What are the crosswind limitations for solo students?
Greater than 15 kts, and only if they have been authorised after an airborne check and have their PT-51 annotated.

How should solo students join the circuit?
Upwind at Tamworth, unless directed by the DI, or weather dictated otherwise (request at 5nm call at TW)
Upwind, crosswind or downwind IAW AIP at other airfields
High key for the duty runway for precautionary, emergency landings. Solo students are not to rejoin via high key for PFL’s.

When can a student conduct ground checks while moving? Which ones?

What should a pre-GFPT student do in the event of a RWY change?
Land, clear the runway and conduct after landing checklist, taxi to the new duty runway, conduct engine run-ups and PTVA’s. Students can then recommence circuit operations.
