Standards of a BVM Flashcards
1
Q
list the 12 standards of design for a BVM
A
- deliver at least 85% o2 with flow of 15LPM
- operate at extreme temps (-180 to 600dgC and RH of 40-96%)
- adult: must at least deliver Vt 600ml; Cs of 0.02 L/cmh2o and R of 20 cmh2o/L/sec
- neonates: must at least deliver Vt 200-300mls
pediatric: must at least deliver Vt 400-500mls
- flows 0-30LPM without jamming non-rebreathing valve
- malfunctioning valve d/t foreign obstruction must be restored w/in 20sec
- 15:22mm connector
- no pressure limiting system on adult BVM
- pressure release valve at 40 cmh2o (+/- 10) for paediatric BVM
- pressure release valve at 40 cmh2o (+/- 5) for neonatal BVM
- override capability & audible signal if pressure limiting/venting system in place
- operate properly after being dropped from height of 1m onto concrete
