Standard enthaply change of neutrisation Flashcards
How to find the enthalpy change of neutrisation
Using pipette place 25cm3 of 1.00moldm-3 into expanded polystyrene cup.
Measure the temperature of acid and place 25cm3 of alkali using pipette.
Measure temperature of alkali and add the alkali to the acid, stir and measure maximium temperature.
Calculations for enthalpy change of neutrisation
1) Work out mean temperature
2) Work out temperature change
3) Work out volume of solution
4) Work out mass
5) Work out specific heat reaereanging equation q=mcAt
What are the sources of error and assumptions made in experiments
Uncertianities of measurements with useof pipettes and theronmenter
Heat could be transferred to thermometer and polystyrene cup
