GAG-rich structures, mucous goblet cells, mast cell granules and cartilage matrix
What does Eosin stain pink?
Colloidal proteins
What does Eosin stain orange/red?
Keratin
What does Iron Haematoxylin stain black?
Nuclei/Elastic fibres
What does Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) stain magenta?
Hexose sugars (especially complex carbs- goblet cell mucin, cartilage matrix, glycogen, basement membrane, glycocalyx)
What does Perl’s stain stain Prussian blue?
Ferric iron
What does Romanovsky stain (Giemsa’s of Leishman’s) stain purple?
Nuclei, Azurophils, Neutrophil granules
