What is stage in-line of approach mean?
Units stop 1 block away from incident, without committing to the block
What is base staging?
Units stage at a specific exterior location or intersection as directed by Operations.
Explain base staging on a high rise incident
Only personnel will be needed close to fire building, apparatus should be staged to allow free access for other vehicles
Base staging should be?
Base staging should be remote from incident to prevent congestion in area and prevent conflict with apparatus operating on scene.
Define Interior Staging
Units will be ordered to a specific location in a building
Where is interior Staging on a high-rise?
At least 3 floors below the fire
Where is interior staging on a major building?
May be located in separate wing or location protected from the incident operations
How many staging levels are there?
Three Levels
Level 1 staging is defined as?
1st and 2nd due Engine Companies shall layout and report to assigned positions unless directed otherwise by Operations. 1st due truck company will take position in front of the building. These companies will follow SOGs
All other responding units will do the following during level 1 staging?
Slow response
Position in line of approach to cover there assignment
Engine companies prepare to complete 1st or 2nd due engine company’s layout
2nd due truck, squad all other units stage in line of approach
Monitor tactical channel
Units will be directed by Operations
Personnel remain with apparatus at assigned position and be prepared to deploy when ordered
In order of level I staging to effective Company officer must?
Give complete and accurate size up reports and progress reports as they acquire information
What are examples of situations where Operations may utilize Level I staging?
Size up reports of an order of food, trash outside of a building or fire out on arrival
Define level II Staging?
Communications Division will direct companies to respond on channel zero-14 and operations will designate a staging area to report. Companies arriving at the staging area will notify Operations by radio of their arrival at the staging area on zero-14 and will await instructions from operations
