Germinal stage
0-2 weeks
starts at fertilisation and ends with implantation
zygote travels down fallopian tubes and to uterus
embryonic stage 3-8 weeks
characterised by cell differerntation, cells specialise
internal organs and systems have begun to form
implantation is done, embryo attaches to wall of uterus
foetal stage 8-38 weeks
continues till birth
all organs are formed
foetus can hear muffled sounds

maternal diet
cannot have raw foods,
FOLATE ; help reduce risk of spina bifida, eg vegetables
IRON- helps with energy, uptake of oxygen, eg; meat
IODINE- help with intellect of child, eg; wheat, flour
nutrition defiences can lead to low body weight child,
developmental milestones in infancy
holding head up , rolls over, walking supported, object permance
