Explain the study Schaffer and Emerson (1964)

A

Investigate the formation of early attachment. Infants throughout their first 18 months, visited in their home every month for first year, then once at 18 months. By 18 months, most had formed attachments (some up to 5), some chose father for main attachment however most chose mother. Babies do not demonstrate monotropy, based on whose most responsive, attachment split into 4 distinct stages
