Q

What did Rutter suggest about multiple attachments?

A

He proposed a model of multiple attachments that saw all attachments of equal importance, with these attachments combining together to help form a child’s internal working model (a template for future relationship)

Q

What is a strength of multiple attachments?

A

Children who have multiple attachments are more able to for, and conduct social relationships as they have the experience to do so and if a child loses an attachment figure, it has several others that it can turn to

17
Q

What is a limitation multiple attachments?

A

It is not entirely clear when children form multiple attachments. Some research indicates that most if not all babies form attachments to a single main career before they become capable of developing multiple attachments whilst other research indicates that babies form multiple attachments from the outset. This suggests more research needs to be carried out on the importance of multiple attachments
