- 6 tribunes who assisted the Legatus
- senior tribune was a young man of noble birth who was an apprentice before he started his career in politics. He usually had a civilian post before becoming Legatus for a few years, and then, he would return to his civilian career.
Why wouldn’t the appointment of relatively inexperienced officers affect the Roman army’s success?
The army was well-trained and organized, so having some inexperienced officers did not affect how successful the army was.
