Discuss the Higher Commanders intent.
From this the specified tasks can be taken. It describes the intent of the commander’s military operation and its end-state.
Discuss Specified Tasks.
These are tasks specifically assigned to me within my mission. They are broken down into implied, specified and mission essential.
Discuss Constraints, Restrictions and Freedoms.
Considered through the lens of time, resources and geographical boundaries.
Discuss Assets Available.
What assets does the commander have to achieve the mission? What can they do and do I have enough assets to achieve my tasks?
Discuss Acceptable Level of Risk.
What risk does the commander take to achieve the mission? Considered within spatial enviroment and boundaries, risk must be classified. What mitigation measures can I put in place?
Discuss Initial TEST Analysis.
TEST stands for Terrain, Enemy, Space and Time. Its a brief examination at what factors that could affect the mission.
Discuss Actual/Likely change of Situation.
An examination of what might change in the operation taking into account undated intelligence, adversary known doctrine and external factors such as weather.
Discuss Implied tasks.
The tasks that have not been specified by the HCI but are required to be completed in order to successfully carry out HCI.
Discuss Essential Tasks.
The tasks that need to be carried out and that are vital to the success of the mission, if not completed the mission will be a failure.
