Q

What is Angina caused by?

A

Angina is caused by atherosclerosis affecting the coronary arteries, narrowing the lumen and reducing blood flow to the myocardium. At times of high demand e.g exercise there is insufficient blood to meet the demand. This causes Angina symptoms such as chest pain that may or may not radiate to the arms and jaw.
