How, where, and when did St. Ignatius break his legs?
St. Ignatius both broke legs in Pamplona, Spain. It was 1521 He was in war when his legs were hit by a cannon ball.
What did Ignatius do with his legs to look ‘better’ ?
One leg became shorter than the other, and he walked with a limp. Then St. Ignatius had his leg broken again in attempt to correct this. It was unsuccessful.
What journey does St. Ignatius decide to take when his legs heal? What stops Ignatius from doing so?
He decides to go to the holy land. He is unable to when it becomes too dangerous with the Turks.
Where does St. Ignatius go after being unable to go to the holy land? What does he do there?
The shrine of Monserrat. He does three things: lays down his sword at the altar, makes confession, and gives away his nice clothes to the poor.
After the shrine of Monserrat, where does he go, and what does he do?
He went to a town named Manresa. He stayed for a year praying.
What happens to Ignatius in Manresa?
Ignatius is down by the river when he is enlightened, and sees God in all things.
St Ignatius realizes he wants to help and teach people. What does he do to accomplish this?
He goes to grade school to learn Latin with little kids.
What university does st. Ignatius go to, and what does he study?
Ignatius goes to the University of Paris and studies Latin, Philosophy, and theology
While at the University, who does Ignatius meet?
Francis Xavier and Peter Faber. He is roommates with them and influences them to God. They formed the Society of Jesus.
