Why should we underline topic sentences in reading passages?
Because it helps our brain know where to find things and to help us find the answers to the questions quickly.
What is map out the passage?
use your pencil to circle/mark/star/anything words that stand out, and use your pencil to make notes on the sides of paragraphs to draw your attention to what the point of the paragraph is
How do you know if a reading question is a big idea question? (Red flag?)
If they ask what the passage is about or what they would title it; any question about the ENTIRE passage
How do you know if a reading question is a go find it question? (Red flag?)
If the question is detailed, and it’s asking for a specific thing.
What do you do when you see a go find it question?
You go find it by searching the passage, but because you are mapping the passage, you will have a better idea of where things are. You can also look for keywords.
