list five benefits of good health

A
  • allows us to be active with more energy, their stress and fatigue
  • allows musclo-skeletal system to hold the body parts in place.
  • allow space for vital organs to function at optimal efficiency
  • allows you to breathe more efficiently

19
Q

Where is the rectus abdominus located?

A

Located along the front of the abdomen.

20
Q

What is the rectus abdominus?

A

It is the most well known abdominal. It’s also known as the six pack muscle. Found on either side of the midline in the abdominal wall. A long paired muscle. Intersected fibrous strips that divides the long strip into three distinct sections

21
Q

What is the function of the rectus abdominus?

A

Flexion and rotation of the torso. Controls the posterior tilt of the pelvis stabilizing the pelvis during walking, and depresses the rubs.

22
Q

where is the external oblique located?

A

located on the side in front of the abdomen.

23
Q

What is the external oblique?

A

The largest and most superficial flat muscle in the abdominal wall. lies on the side and the front of the abdomen, connecting from the eighth rib to the iliac.

24
Q

what is the function of the external oblique?

A

rotation and side flexion of the torso.

25
Q

Where is the internal oblique located?

A

It’s located under the external obliques, running in the opposite direction. Lies deep. It is smaller and thinner than the external oblique

26
Q

what is the function for the internal oblique?

A

rotation and flexion of the torso. Controls the relationship of the pelvis and the rib cage. And supports the lumbar is spine

27
Q

where is the transverse abdominis located?

A

Located under the obliques. Deepest of the abdominal muscles. Wraps around the spine for stability and protection.

28
Q

what is the function of the transverse abdominis?

A

draws the abdomen towards the spine. Pulling in the stomach

29
Q

what is the spine comprised of?

A

24 irregular shaped bones which are called vertebra.

30
Q

how many irregular shaped bones does the vertebra have that does not include the fused bones in the tailbone

A

24 irregular shaped

31
Q

What does the tailbone include of?

A

The sacrum and coccyx

32
Q

What is the total number of vertebra including the fuse bones?

A

33 vertebrae

33
Q

what is the disk made up between each vertebra?

A

A disk made of Cartlidge

34
Q

What is the job of the Cartlidge between the vertebrae?

A

Cartlidge reduces friction between the bones and absorbs compression forces

35
Q

Why is the spinal perfectly straight?

A

it has four curves

36
Q

what did the curves in the spine absorb?

A

these curves absorb the shock, acting like a spring and assist with your balance whilst you stand upright on two legs.

37
Q

How do we minimize these curves?

A

by standing up straight and pulling our muscles in towards our center line. Never have a perfectly straight back

38
Q

Name for functions of this

A

Holds body in an upright position.
Protests the spinal cord which is central to the nervous system.
Helps with flexibility
You can’t live without your spine

39
Q

What is a warm-up?

A

A session or allocated amount of time prior to doing physical activity

40
Q

Why do we do a warm-up?

A

to prevent injury by gradually increasing the bodies cool and muscle temperature as well as heart rate. A good warm-up should also increase range of motion. Mentally prepare you for the exercise. should be specific to the type of exercise you are going to do.

41
Q

What three elements should a good warm-up include?

A

cardiovascular exercises, muscle awakening, joint mobilization

42
Q

what is cardiovascular exercises and give an example

A

It increases the body temperature and brings up heart rate. Any activity that makes you breathe faster. fast walking, running, jumping jacks, Burpee ‘s, hops etc.

43
Q

What is muscles awakening?

A

warms up the muscles and prepare them for movement to do during the activity. It increases the suppleness of the muscle. Enhancing its efficiency and power.

44
Q

Give an example of muscle awakenings.

A

squats, tricep dips, bridge hold

45
Q

what is joint mobilization?

A

Warming up lubricates joints. Increasing its range of motion and makes them looser.

46
Q

which is the largest and most superficial abdomen in the abdominal wall?

A

the external muscle, connecting the eighth rib to the iliac
