Q

How is quality of life worsened or improved in a democracy?

A

Quality of life is positively affected in a democracy. This is due to a number of factors providing more power to the citizens of the country, such as: more leniency towards laws and a better justice system, their input affecting the course of the country, and the ability to petition. This allows citizens to provide more input to the nation, allowing their quality of life to differ negatively and positively, and to speak their voice in a way that lets them adjust the state of the nation according to their needs at that moment. This is a really powerful thing as the citizens are given power to control their own lives in a good living condition provided by the government. Petitions (and actions by the people) are probably the best thing if you are looking to target a specific issue, since with a bit of effort, you can target the things that are inconvenient or impeding your life or job, instead of having to generalize your ideas via voting for a whole party. Additionally, you are in very little risk of the government falling/becoming corrupt, due to the distribution of power between citizens, other parties, and different roles in the government. This distribution keeps the government more stable than otherwise, and gives the citizens more tranquility, as they are sure that a dictatorship won’t strip away their rights the next day.
