crop brokers, managed the cotton trade.
Forms of Rebelling
Slaves worked slower to protest long hours in the fields. Others ran away to avoid an angry slaveholder. Also broke their tools.
House slaves
workerd as butlers, cooks, or nursers in the Planter’s home. They had better food, clothing, and shelter than field hands did. They had to serve the family 24 hours a day.
Field Slaves
worked on the same tasks, worked sun up to sundown. Sickness and Poor weather rarely stopped the work.
