It gave British control of all of the land and forced everyone off.
What effect did the Quebec Act of 1774 have on the French living in Canada?
It allowed them to keep their culture. (Language, religion, etc.)
What is nationalism? Why was there a rise in nationalism during the War of 1812?
Nationalism is a sense of unity within a country.
Nationalism rose because it was the first war that the country fought as an independent nation against a foreign enemy.
What did this rise in nationalism lead to after the War of 1812 in Canada?
They united to form the province Canada.
What was the Transcontinental railroad and what effects did it have on Canada?
The economy grew and there was enough money to build a railroad across the country because of the economy. It increased the shipment of goods across the country. It also increased travel from coast to coast. It created new provinces and territories. Canadian nationalism was born.
Why was the Yukon territory organized in 1898?
To meet the needs of the growing population.
Why did Saskatchewan & Alberta join as provinces in 1905?
So they could collect taxes from both Saskatchewan and Alberta so they could afford more things like school.
