Human activity depends on what that region has to offer. For example, Corn production in the Heartland of the US, and steel production near iron ore fields in Minnesota.

By locating and using underground water reserves, you can create sustainable growth in the area
How did European settlement of the New World determine which languages, religions, and culture shape North America today?
All of the major religions in North America came from elsewhere. Christianity is the largest faith by membership. North America is home to hundreds of languages, but English, Spanish, and French have the largest number of speakers. European explorers brought these customs with them to the location they colonized.
