Reluctance to answer because he doesn’t want to be the right person ex. “I’m not sure I can answer that”
Repeating the question
Buys time to figure out an answer
Non-answer statements
Answers that don’t provide you the information the question asked for
Inconsistent statements
When previous statements made are inconsistent with the current statement made
Going into Attack Mode
Might take the form of trying to impeach your credibility or competence. Includes passive aggressive responses
Inappropriate questions
Question that doesn’t directly relate to the question we asked or resolution of issue at hand
Overly specific answers
2 ways
Too technically, cuts out info that they want to keep secret
Too narrow, overlyspecific and inundate the detailed information in response to the question, often takes the form of providing info to create the halo effect
inappropriate level of politeness
If in response to a question a person suddenly increases the level of nicety
Inappropriate level of concern
Attempt to diminish the importance of the issue, typically focus on either issue or the process
Process or procedural complaints
Won’t necessarily go on the attack but was still attempt to play offense rather than defense by taking issue with the proceedings, ex “why are you asking me”, “how long is this going to take”
Failure to understand a simple question
Feel trapped by the question so they attempt to get you to rephrase it to give them wiggle room
Referral statement
Refer to previously answer as a answer to the current question,

When a person bring God into the equation
Selective memory
When a person says I don’t remember, its difficult to refute without some definitive tangible evidence, hard Alibi to crack context is especially important
Qualifiers
2 types
Exclusion qualifiers enable people to withhold information and to answer truthfully without releasing the information they dont to release examples include “basically” “for the most part” “fundamentally”
Perception qualifiers are used to enhance credibility examples include “frankly” “to be perfectly honest”
Convincing statements
Lies of influence, especially powerful, unable to respond with the facts likely to respond with these statements that are designed to convince the questioner of something rather than to convey truthful information
