GOTHIC
Fictional writing which features dark and picturesque scenery, startling and melodramatic storylines, and an overall atmosphere of mystery, fear, and dread.
SUPERNATURAL
We use this word to describe something that we can’t explain through science or nature, such as ghosts
NARRATOR
The person who is telling the story. Most stories use 1st person narrators (I, me) or 3rd person narrators (he, she, they)
PLOT
The overarching storyline/the action that takes place in a story
ATMOSPHERE
The feeling, tone or mood being created by the writer, usually achieved through setting
DISTURBING
A worrying or strange or inappropriate way of behaving; a person who verges on dangerous or violent would be a disturbing character
TENSION
A moment within a text which evokes worry, fear, anxiety or stress for the reader
