What is imagery?
Physiological term that uses all the senses to recreate or create an experience in the mind, imagine the skill being performed without moving a muscle this creates muscle memory

Study of psychological and mental factors that’s influence and are influenced by performance and physical activities
What in internal visualization?
Seeing the sport being done through your own eyes
Eg looking down at the ball in golf
What is external visualization?
Viewing the athlete performing from the outside
Eg like watching golf on TV
What is motivation?
Can be defined as the direction of intensity and effort.
Encouraging others to achieve a goal can influence how people act think or feel

An individuals attraction to certain situations
Eg beating a PB
What is intensity (motivation)?
How much effort and individual will put into the situation

What is intrinsic motivation?
Is the inherent pleasure that comes from trying, beating your best and experiencing an activity

Involved when the ability is personally important for the rewards our outcomes that’s results from participation rather than interest in the activity

What is anxiety?
A subjective felling of apprehension that is accompanied by arousal is related to negative emotions can cause people unable to sleep well and people can perform badly with anxiety

What is Arousal?
Heightened sense of physical and mental alertness or activation it’s a blend of physiological and pay logical activation and is not always associated with negative emotions
Ranges from a continuum from deep sleep to extensive excitement
It’s important for an athlete it identify the optimal levels of arousal for theirs particular sport
What is concentration?
The ability to direct ones attention to appropriate cues in the present task while screening our irrelevant external and internal stimuli

Unsportsmanlike conduct

Distracting body sensations
Irrelevant feeling

What is Dress rehearsal?
Complete the competitive routine in the same uniform and environment like the real thing
Conducted frequently after athletes have mastered a new skill and are practicing for the whole routine

Making practice like the competition Makes an athlete become familiar with the environment Train in worst case scenarios Eg wet weather Using fake crowd noise

Use words TIC TOC to trigger a response
TIC any self statements or thoughts that are irrelevant to the I modiste task
TOC switching to a relevant task
Strategy entails becoming aware to TICS and immediately making them TOCS

Develop pre set behavioral protocols for use during warm up and practice and times during the comp
Rituals trigger the needed arousal thinking and focus concentration
