Society
An organised group of people associated for some specific purpose or with a shared common interest.
Socialisation
A lifelong process where members of a society learns its norms, values, ideas, practises and roles in order to take place in society.
Primary socialisation.
Early years of childhood takes place with immediate family
Secondary socialisation.
Occurs in later years ( teenagers / adults )
Influenced by peers.
Gender socialisation
Learning of behaviour and attitudes considered appropriate for a given sex.
Internalisation
Learning the values or attitudes that are incorporated within yourself.
Social control
A concept that refers to the way in which peoples thoughts, feelings, appearance and behaviour are regulated in social systems.
Social change
An alteration in the social order of society.
Social issues
Problems that affect many people within a society.
Inequality
Unfair situation where resources or opportunities are distributed unevenly within a society.
Social stratification
A type of social inequality where society is divided into different levels on the basis of a social characteristic, such as wealth or status.
