Body language, gestures, facial expressions that accompany spoken texts

Features such as stress, rhythm,pitch,tempo and intonation
Deixis
Referring backwards or outside of a text
Ellipses
Omission of part of a grammatical structure, helps to convey a more casual or informal tone

Four conversational rules; quantity, relevance, manner, quality
Interactional talk
Language in conversation used for interpersonal reasons
Phatic talk
Conversational utterances with no other purpose than to establish or maintain personal relationships
