Q

What do results show?

A
  1. If lungs aren’t working properly
  2. If lungs are obstructive ( ability to breathe out quickly is affected by narrowing of airways, but the amount of air you can hold in your lungs is normal) or restrictive ( amount of air you can breathe in is reduced because your lungs are unable to fully expand)

Q

Why does the volume in the chamber slowly decrease?

A

The oxygen is used in respiration and, carbon dioxide is released in respiration, but the carbon dioxide is then absorbed by the sodalime causing a drop in volume
