What is connectedness?
Being intrapersonally connected with oneself and others.Transpersonally is being connected with God
What is self transcendence?
A sense of authentically connecting to ones inner self
What is transcendence?
Force outside the material world greater than us
What is Faith?
People have the firm beliefs despite lack of physical evidence. It enables them to believe in and establish transpersonal connections
What is Hope?
Feeling of energized belief by a source that has an orientation to future goals and outcomes. Attitude to live for
What is Spiritual well being?
Supports the transcendent relationship between a person and god or a higher power. Describes positive relationships and connections that people have with others feel connected to others
What is Religion?
State of doing. A specific system of practices associated with a particular denomination,sect,or form of worship.
Example: Buddhist believe in the Four Noble Truths
Christians believe in God
Affects of Acute Illness on Spirituality
Grief, unanticipated scramble to integrate and cope with new realities.
We ask”why did this happen to me”
Affects of Terminal illness on Spirituality
Causes fear of physical pain,isolation,the unknown and dying.
Affects of chronic illness on Spirituality
Threatens a persons independence,causing fear,anxiety,spiritual distress
What is Spiritual Distress?
Inspire ability to experience and integrate meaning and purpose in life through connectedness with self,others,art,music,literature,nature, and/or a power greater than oneself
Affects of NDE (near death experience) on Spirituality
Causes isolation and depression. Feels like no one will believe them . Out of body experience , light at the end of the tunnel but sent back because it’s not their time to die.
