Spinal Rami Flashcards
What does the Small Dorsal Ramus innervate?
The posterior trunk via several branches in a simple segmented pattern.
Immediately upon exiting the intervertebral foramen, the short spinal nerves branch into how many distal rami?
What do the distal rami carry?
Where are they located?
- 3-4 distal rami.
- contain mixed fibers.
- spinal rami are lateral to the nerve.
Where does the Larger Ventral Ramus innervate?
T1-T12 innervate the thorax as intercostal nerves.
- supplying muscles of the ribs, anterolateral thorax & abdominal wall.
All other ventral rami form complex networks to innervate limbs.
What does the Tiny Meningeal Branch innervate?
Re-enters the vertebral canal to innervate the spinal cord meninges & blood vessels.
What do the Rami Communicantes form?
Base of the ventral rami in the thoracic region.
Becoming the sympathetic trunk ganglia and carry out autonomic motor fibers.
