Spinal Level reflexes (3) Flashcards
Flexor withdrawal: time to integration
2m/o
(+) run after 2 m/o indicated delayed response/reflex maturation
Flexor withdrawal: position
supine head in midline position, legs extended
Flexor withdrawal: stimulus
stimulate sole of the foot
Flexor withdrawal: purpose
protect the body from damaging stimuli
Flexor withdrawal: response (-/+)
(-) stimulated leg remains ext or VOLITIONAL withdrawal from irritating stimulus
(+) uncontrolled fix of stimulated leg (fix and remain fixed)
Crossed extension: time to integration
2m/o
(+) run after 2 m/o indicated delayed response/reflex maturation
Crossed extension: purpose
allows body to compensate on one side for a stimulus on the other
Crossed extension: position
supine, head in midline, 1 leg fix, other leg ext OR both legs ext
Crossed extension: stimulus
flx extended leg OR stimulate medial surface of one leg by tapping or stroking
Crossed extension: response (-/+)
(-)no reaction of the leg opposite stimulus
(+) fix of ext leg causes ext of opposite leg OR opposite leg adducts and IR with PF of foot
Extensor thrust: purpose
Used to evaluate the function of pressure receptors and stretch receptors on foot as well as motor nerves to extensor muscles in the lower limb
Extensor thrust: time to integration
2m/o
(+) run after 2 m/o indicated delayed response/reflex maturation
Extensor thrust: position
supine head in midline one leg extended with app leg flx
Extensor thrust: stimulus
stimulus sole of foot of fox leg
Extensor thrust: Response (-/+)
(-) maintains fix of simulated leg
+) uncontrolled ext of stimulated leg (fix leg
