Spinal cord vasculature Flashcards
Which is the major artery supplying the anterior 2/3 of the spinal cord?
The anterior spinal artery
From where does the anterior spinal artery arrise?
From vertebral artery from both sides.
There are radicular arteries accompanying the nerve root at many levels but most ncontribute little to the spinal cord itself. From where does these radicular arteries arrise?
From aorta.
Although most radicular arteries does not contribute a lot to the spine, 6-9 of them do by attaching to the anterior spinal artery. What is their common name?
Radiculomedullary arteries.
One of the radiculomedullary arteries give the main supply from Th8 and to conus. What is it called?
Adamkiewicz AKA arteria radicularis anterior magna?
80% of time the Adamkiewitz artery come from the same side. Which?
the left
What part pf the spine has a watershed zone?
mid thoracic.
