What is central cord syndrome?
Damage mainly to central gray matter
Trauma, syrinx, tumours
Loss of pain and temperature sensation in cape-like distribution
What is anterior cord syndrome?
Commonly due to infarction
Spares proprioception, fine touch and vibratory sensation
What is Brown-Sequard Syndrome?
Injury to one side
Puncture wounds
Movement lost on injured side, pain and temperature lost on opposite side
What is Causa Equine Syndrome?
Injury or compression damage below spinal cord
Lower back pain, leg weakness and numbness, loss of pelvic sensations
What is spasticity and what causes it?
Upper motor neuron damage
Sensory-motor control is disordered, causing increased reflexes, spasms, clonus, altered muscle tone, abnormal movement patterns
