What is the spinal cord protected by and what does it run through?
Protected by the vertebrae and runs through the vertebral canal.
What’s the hole in the vertebra called? And what is formed when all of the vertebra are lined on top of eachother?
The hole is the vertebral foramen
When the vertebrae is stacked, the vertebral canal is formed.
What is the outer section of the spinal cord formed from? And what does it consist of?
Formed of white matter
Consists of axons of neurones that form ascending or descending pathways.
What is the inner section of the spinal cord formed from? And what is located in the inner section?
Formed from grey matter
Cell bodies of neurones are located here and it’s where the synapse occurs between these cell bodies, their dendrites and the axons of other neurones.
Where do nerves from the body enter and leave the spinal cord?
Enter through the dorsal roots, exit through the ventral root.
