How is the theme of loss shown in the movie?
-Miles’ loss of a normal life and hence his identity has a big impact on him.
-Miles’ loss of confidence as he struggles to believe in himself and others are not too confident in his ability to accomplish the task either.
-Uncle Aaron was the person who encouraged Miles’ creativity and his death was a massive loss for Miles.
How is the theme of identity/self-belief and resilience shown in the movie?
Beginning - Miles struggles with his identity in the beginning; new school, expectations from his father, feeling like he doesn’t belong.
• This heightens when he gains his powers.
Miles has to believe in himself and feel supported to take the “leap of faith” that leads to him stepping into this new side of himself.
How is the theme of family shown in the movie?
-Expectations in his life are tied to his family.
-Miles’ creativity is pulled in different directions by family; his dad vs his uncle.
-Miles’ family is in a way, falling apart throughout the film. It is only when his dad shows his support for Miles that can become his true self -> unconditional love.
