Spermatogenesis Flashcards

1
Q

What happens during mitosis (Spermatogenesis)?

A
  • Somatic cell division of SPERMATOGONIA
  • 2 diploid daughter cells produced, one remains in place the other moves into the lumen if the SEMINEFEROUS TUBULES
  • This displaced cell differentiates into a PRIMARY SPERMATOCYTE.

Q

Describe MEIOSIS of SPERMATOGENESIS?

A

2 cycles of cell division produce 4 immature gametes that are not identical in size.

Within the semineferous tubules, PRIMARY SPERMATOCYTES meiotic divisions produce spermatids
