Explain the rule “Silent e”
When there is an “e” at the end of a one-syllable word that ends in a single consonant, the vowel letter in the middle tends to say its own name.
Ex hat -> hate
Explain the rule “Magic y”
When there is a “y” at the end of a one-syllable word ending a single consonant letter, the vowel in the middle tends to say its own name.
Ex. Lad -> Lady
Explain the rule “Two vowels letters together”
When there are two vowel letters together, many times “the first that came says its name”. Sometimes may be the second vowel that says its own name.
Ex. <ee> -> /i:/ (See /si:)</ee>
