Speed Agility And quickness Training Concepts Flashcards
Speed
The ability to move the body in one intended direction as fast as possible
Agility
The ability to start ( for accelerate) stop ( for decelerate and stabilize) and change direction in response to a signal or stimulus quickly while maintaining postural control
Quickness
The ability to react and change position with maximal rate of force production , in all planes of motion and from all body positions, during dynamic activities
Stride Rate
The number of strides taken in a given amount of time ( or distance)
Stride Length
The distance covered with each stride during the gait cycle
Frontside Mechanics
Proper alignment of the lead leg and pelvis during sprinting which includes ankle dorsiflexion, knee flexion, hip, Flexion, and neural pelvis
Backside mechanics
Proper alignment of the rear leg and pelvis during sprinting which includes ankle plantar flexion, knee extension, hip extension, and neural pelvis
Proprioception
The body’s ability to naturally sense its general orientation and relative position of its parts
SAQ - Youths
Frecuency - 1-3 x week
Drils - 4-8
Sets 1-4
Reps 3-5
Rest 15-60 seconds
Bone Density
The amount of mineral content such as calcium and phosphorus in a segment of bone
Osteopenia
Lower than normal bone density and a precursor to osteoporosis
Osteoporosis
A condition of reduced bone mineral density which increases risk of bone fracture
Sarcopenia
An age related loss of muscle mass resulting in weakness and frailty in older adults
SAQ X Beginners
4-6 drills, 1-2 sets, 2-3 reps , 15-60 seconds rest
SAQ X Intermediate
6-8 drills, 3-4 sets, 3-5 reps, 0-60 seconds rest
