Acetaminophen (acetaminophen level)
24 hours: nausea and vomiting
48-72 hours: hepatic failure/toxicity
Aspirin/Salicylate (salicylate level)
Initial: tinnitus, restlessness, N/V, mild GI discomfort
+ a few Hrs: depressed consciousness, fever,
respiratory alkalosis precedes metabolic acidosis
(toxic to lungs + ARDS)
Carbon Monoxide (carboxyHb level; CO oximetry)
SOB, Lightheadedness, Throbbing HA, Disorientation, Metabolic acidosis, seizures, syncope, death from MI
Carbon Monoxide levels (carboxyHb level; CO oximetry)
Pulse ox: Normal (PO2: Normal); CarboxyHb level: Increase
Digoxin
GI disturbance (N/V/D, pain); blurred vision/yellow halos; arrhythmia (PR prolong or paroxysmal atrial tachy w/block);
Ethylene Glycol & Methanol
Intoxication + Metabolic acidosis with increased anion gap (kussmaul’s respiration: rapid, deep breathing pattern)

Renal toxicity: hypocalcemia, Kidney (oxalate) stones
Methanol
Ocular toxicity: Visual disturbance, Retinal hyperemia
Methemoglobinemia (methemoglobin level)
Normal PO2; Cyanosis, SOB, Dizziness, HA, Confusion, Seizures
Neuroleptic malignant syndrome
bromocriptine, dantrolene
h/o: antipsychotic meds; muscle rigidity
Malignant hyperthermia
dantrolene
h/o: anesthetic use; muscle rigidity
Heat stroke (hydration, external/evaporative cooling)
h/o: exertion on hot day
Neuroleptic MS; M. hyperthermia, Heat Stroke symptoms:
High temperature + Confusion + Arrythmia + CPK & K+
Heat Exhaustion:
Excessive sweating, N/V
Opiate Intoxication
Death from respiratory depression
