Specific Heat Capacity Flashcards
What’s the first thing you do when measuring specific heat capacity
Place a beaker on a balance and press zero
What’s the second thing you do
Add oil to the beaker and record the mass of the oil
What’s the third thing you do
Place a thermometer and an immersion heater into the oil and read the starting temperature of the oil
What’s the 4th thing you do
Wrap the beaker in insulating foam to reduce the thermal energy transfer to the surrounding
What’s the 5th thing you do
Connect a joule meter to the immersion heater and time for 30 minutes that allows us to accurately read it on a thermometer
What’s the 6th thing yiu do
Read the number of joules of energy that passed into the immersion heater and read the final temperature of the oil
