Specific heat capacity RP:

A
  1. Measure and record the mass of the block.
  2. Insert a thermometer and heater into the holes in the block. If the hole is wider than the thermometer, add a small amount of water to avoid the air around it acting as an insulator.
  3. Wrap the block in insulating material.
  4. Connect the ammeter, powerpack and heater in series.
  5. Measure and record the initial potential different and current or the block.
  6. Then take reading of the current every minute for 10 minutes.
  7. Calculate the temperature change.
  8. Calculate the power of the heater.
  9. Calculate the energy transferred to the heater.
  10. Calculate the specific heat capacity of the block.
