specialised cells pp1 Flashcards
What is a specialised cell?
A specialised cell is a cell that gains or loses certain structure to be able to carry out a certain functions.
Characteristics of
RBC?
- no nucleus
- bioncave and circular shapes
- haemoglobin
function of no nucleus in RBC?
to store more hemoglobin
function of bioncave shape in RBC?
to increase the surface area to volume ratio hence
it can take in and releases oxygen at a faster rate.
function of haemoglobin in RBC?
to bind oxygen
Why do root hair cells have a narrow cell membrane and cell wall extension?
To increase surface area of the cell so that it can absorb water faster.
What is the green pigment in palisade cell?
Chloropast
What is chloropast in palisade cell used for?
Photosynthesis, converting solar(sun
light) energy into chemical energy
(glucose)
